Unsure of what dress to wear to an upcoming wedding this year? We’ve created a no-fail guide to dressing for every season. Read on for ideas and tips you’ll use all year long.
What to Wear to a Fall Wedding
Fall means darker hues, so opt for shades of burgundy, forest green and navy blue. Beaded options and dresses with luxe materials (like jacquard) are also appropriate for this time of year. Depending on which month the wedding is in, you may want to incorporate sheer tights or a matching wrap to your outfit. Midi and maxi dresses are also perfect choices when you’d like to stay warm and stylish.
What to Wear to a Winter Wedding
Winter weddings can be tricky to dress for (you’ll need to find something that will keep you warm and is dress-code appropriate). Search for dresses for illusion sleeves, go for longer lengths, or find a chic wrap that adds to your overall ensemble (Shop our jackets and wraps here). Focus on hues of blue, burgundy, deep green, wine, gold, or black (beaded dresses are a great option, too!). Sheer tights are a must if the ceremony is outdoors! As for fabrics to look for, lace and jacquard dresses are always perfect for the occasion.
What to Wear to a Spring Wedding
Spring weddings mark the start of wedding season (and time to bring in bright colors!). After a long winter, you’ll want to incorporate lively hues and floral dresses into your wedding guest dress wardrobe. Look for fabrics like silk, chiffon, satin, or taffeta. Depending on the month the wedding takes place in, a lightweight wrap might be necessary for those chilly spring nights.
What to Wear to a Summer Wedding
Summer weddings call for weather appropriate dresses (think lighter fabrics and colors). Nuptials this time of year are typically housed outside for at least one portion of the day, so find a dress you know you’ll be comfortable in. Go for bright hues and strappy silhouettes that will look chic and keep you cool all night.
No matter what the season, one rule that always stands true: check with the bride to see what color the bridesmaids are wearing. You don’t want to look like you’re in the wedding party! It’s always best to stay away from white, beige and cream as well.
